How to use Practice Log

Log practice in two taps on any instrument, record how it sounded, keep your streak, and know how many hours are on your strings, heads or reeds.

What it does

  1. Start
  2. Practice
  3. Save
  4. Review

Get started

  1. Sign in with your email

We send a one-time link. No password.

  2. Add your instrument

  3. Add Practice Log to your home screen

Share → Add to Home Screen (iPhone) or Install app (Android).

  4. Tap Start practice when you pick it up

  3. Need a click? Use the metronome on the timer

The metronome is in the timer screen when available, on every plan: tempo, meter, subdivision and tap tempo.

  4. Notes are pre-filled from your last few days

  5. Tick where and how you played

Seated, standing, lying down, marching, dancing; home, hotel; lesson, songs… Edit the lists in Settings → Tags.

  7. Tap Save session

  8. Forgot the timer? Use Log to enter it by hand

No signal? Keep logging

  1. Save as usual while offline

  2. A "Not yet synced" badge shows what is waiting

  3. It uploads by itself when you are back online

The next time Practice Log is open with a connection. Recordings wait on the device the same way.

  1. Rename, retire or reorder instruments any time

    History stays with the instrument.

  2. Log string changes, drum heads, reeds, tunings, setups and repairs

Equipment → Add entry (Pro). The list fits the instrument.

  3. See hours played since the last change

Strings for guitars and bass, heads for drums, reeds for wind, tuning for pianos.

  4. Set an hours limit to get a warning

Instruments → More details → Strings (or Heads, Reeds, Tuning) hours warning.

Split by instrument and by instrument type.
